ISF XXV CONGRESS UNDERWAY
2011-10-27
The International Softball Federation’s XXV Congress is underway in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (USA). The meeting happens every other year and provides the opportunity for the world governing body to meet face-to-face with its member national federations for several days of business of the sport.
This is the first time in ten years that the Congress has taken place in the U.S. (Tampa, Florida, 2001). Approximately 75 countries are on-hand at the Oklahoma City Marriott, which will be the host of tomorrow night’s welcome reception and opening ceremonies. All five regions are represented – Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania.
Some of the meetings include the Athletes Commission, Playing Rules Commission, Development Commission, and Competition Commission, as well as, of course, the ISF Board of Directors. There will also be a special forum on softball’s Olympic reinstatement plans.
The full Congress will convene Sunday (October 30) followed by a closing reception.
Some of the expected outcomes from this year’s Congress are host cities for future ISF competitions, new Hall of Fame electees, and the awarding of the next Congress site (2013).
Some photos from the Congress will be posted on the ISF’s official page on Facebook.
