SOFTBALL NOT ON IOC’S SHORTLIST FOR 2016 VOTE IN OCTOBER
2009-08-13

The International Olympic Committee’s Executive Board met today in Berlin, Germany. Among other business, the group named two of the seven sports that have been candidates for the 2016 Olympic programme as those that they are recommending for a vote in October at the IOC Session in Denmark.

Softball was not one of the two that made the shortlist. The IOC Executive Board has chosen to recommend golf and rugby for the full Session to vote on in two months.

The other candidates for the 2016 Games were baseball, karate, roller sports, and squash.

A statement from International Softball Federation President Don Porter has been issued and can be read online by clicking here.
