EBAY AUCTION & MWC CONTENT PROVIDE FAN INTERACTION
2009-07-15
Followers of softball around the world can now get more intimately involved with the sport from right in front of their own computer.
An auction has begun today on eBay and two new video options will be launched shortly, making this a great time to be an international softball supporter.
Running through July 25, the eBay auction is a brand new Mizuno fielder’s glove that has been autographed by four Olympians and, as a result, is sure to be a collector’s item. Three of the athletes that signed the glove competed in the 2008 Olympic softball competition in Beijing -- silver medalist Jessica Mendoza (USA), bronze medalist Danielle Stewart (Australia), and outfielder Rubilena (Ruby) Rojas (Venezuela), while the fourth signature is from two-time Olympic softball gold medalist Michele Smith (Team USA, 1996 & 2000), who was a TV commentator on those 2008 Olympic softball games.
The money raised by the auction of the glove will go toward the Olympic reinstatement campaign, BackSoftball.
As far as online interaction video-wise, firstly, the organizing committee of the ISF XII Men’s World Championship – which starts Friday morning (July 17) – has announced that fans from around the globe can watch games from that tournament through video streaming. All of the games that are scheduled to be played at Bob Van Impe Stadium (BVI) will be made available through pay-per-view video streaming.
The cost for a complete tournament package is $59.95 (Canadian), or, for the ten playoff games on the weekend of July 24, 25, & 26, $34.95 (Canadian). Games will be archived and can be viewed by a purchaser at a later time as well. To learn more as well as see a brief demo and sign up to receive the games as well as Opening Ceremonies, please click here.
Secondly, the International Softball Federation is finalizing plans to make exclusive online content from the Men’s World Championship available for free, to include interviews and/or press conferences. Beginning next week, these videos will be accessible through a XII Men’s World Championship playlist that will be set up on the ISF’s YouTube channel.
The ISF is working to keep you close to the great game of softball!
