FIRST OF TWO WORLD CUPS LESS THAN FIVE WEEKS AWAY
2005-09-06
In four-and-a-half weeks, on Saturday, October 8, the II Slow Pitch WORLD CUP will take place at the International Softball Federation’s (ISF) world headquarters facility in Plant City, Florida. Just over six weeks after that one ends, the III Jr. Girls’ WORLD CUP will be held, also at the ISF complex.
Earlier this year, “Cup” events were held in various locations around the world. July began with the 12th Canada Cup, in Surrey, British Columbia. After that, the 1st WORLD CUP of Softball took place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Then, still in July, the 1st Intercontinental Cup was held in Madrid, Spain. The month ended with the 3rd Japan Cup taking place in the country it’s hosted by.
The event in Plant City next month will feature coed play. Teams from the following countries are all expected to compete: Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Great Britain, Ireland, Scotland, and USA. The three-day competition will take place in Plant City Stadium and the Randy L. Larson Softball Fourplex.
From November 23-27, a total of 24 teams of 16-and-under girls will converge on the same facilities for a fast pitch tournament that is expected to see teams from Canada, Chinese Taipei, Great Britain, Jamaica, Mexico, USA, and Venezuela.
