Later this year (November) softball (women’s fast pitch) will once again be played at the Asian Games. The multi-sport event is held every four years and the 2010 edition will take place in Guangzhou, China.

Already the 2014 site has been awarded, and early this week ISF Secretary General Ms. Low Beng Choo paid a visit to the secretary general of the organizing committee for those Games.

In Incheon, Korea, Ms. Low, along with Korean Softball Federation President Kim Jong Hye and Softball Confederation of Asia Deputy Secretary General Kin Yoong Woong, met with Incheon 2014 Asian Games Organizing Committee Secretary General Bae Jhong-Shin, IAGOC Director General Yang Eui Mo, Director of Sports Department Kim Kwang-Soo, and Director of International Relations Lee Sang-Bum.

Later that day a courtesy call was paid to Honorable Mayor of Incheon Ahn Sang-Soo and the Director General of the 2014 Asian Games Support Headquarters Lee Jeong Ho.

The next morning Ms. Low made a courtesy visit to Korean Olympic Committee Secretary General J.J. Choi.

The ISF secretary general also used her time with the Korean Softball Federation president to discuss the development of softball in the schools as well as the start of men’s softball in that country.

Softball will be a part of a multi-sport event in Korea this year when the 11th World Firefighters Games take place in Daegu (August 21-29).

Ms. Low is now heading for Dubai, where she will join ISF President Don Porter for the annual SportAccord convention.
