With a local umpiring situation hanging in the balance, the Bahamas' governing body for softball will lend aide to a regional counterpart to bolster their corps of officials.

The Bahamas Softball Federation has been requested by the Turks and Caicos Softball Federation to assist with their current state of officiating by helping the development of the federation's umpires.

To that end, the BSF will conduct an umpiring clinic and training session with the Turks and Caicos over the Bahamian Independence holiday weekend, July 8-11.

The BSF contingent and the training series will be headed by Eddie Ford, director of umpires for the federation, and deputy director Kirk Tynes. Anthony and Kirk Bowe will also be a part of the team to travel to Turks to assist.

Both Ford and Tynes are Level 5 certified ISF umpires and will assist Turks in having their umpires certified locally as well as internationally.

Bahamas Softball Federation president Burket Dorsett said the partnership between the two federations is beneficial for the growth of the game within the region.

"The Federation is pleased with an opportunity to lend assistance to brother federation. The Bahamas possess a wealth of skill and knowledge in technical administrative areas and to be able to share that with our brother federation to the south," he said. "This sort of relationship will help both federations and the development of softball within the region."

In conjunction with the clinic, the BSF has also been invited to participate by fielding both men's and women's teams to the Digicel Fast/ Modified tournament hosted in Turks and Caicos.

Also in regional action, the BSF has been invited to field a women's national team for the 1st Annual Female Caribbean Invitational, set for August 11-14 in St Croix , US Virgin Islands.

Invitations have been extended to a number of ISF members, including the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, the Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Netherlands, Netherlands Antilles and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
