World Governing Body Continues Active Social Media Presence
PLANT CITY, FLORIDA (USA) -- A page launched today on Twitter is the International Softball Federation’s latest outreach to stay connected with the sport’s fans as well as media members and other key audiences, such as its 128 member federations and other national & international sporting bodies.
The ISF can be followed @ISFsoftball on Twitter, which is consistent with the world governing body’s website address (www.ISFsoftball.org) and its official – and very popular – YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/ISFsoftball). Plans are already being made for daily tweets next month from Caracas, Venezuela, during the XII Women’s World Championship.
“We’ve been very impressed and pleased with the response that our YouTube channel and our Facebook pages have gotten, so establishing a presence on Twitter is just the next logical step,” said ISF President Don Porter.
The YouTube channel continues to get new subscribers signing up regularly and recently passed the 57 thousand plateau in terms of video views. There is an ISF page on Facebook where fans from many countries continue to engage on a regular basis. And, the Facebook page that had been set up for BackSoftball, the Olympic reinstatement campaign, still gets new users “Becoming A Fan,” to where there are currently close to 13,800 people attached to that page.
“We certainly know that softball is truly a global sport,” Mr. Porter added. “These numbers reinforce that and we expect the same type of response with this Twitter launch.”
